About

Some of us Haikyuu fans just love to ship our favourite characters together and we all are probably aware of the ships that get a lot of love like BokuAka, IwaiOi, KageHina ect. and we still love them, but often we can't help but think about some of the more rarer ships that don't get talked about as much or aren't as mainstream. These are ships like (but not limited to) OiSuga, AtsuKage, SugaYaku and AkaKen.

This is where we come in! The Haikyuu Rarepair Exchange Event is a sfw (safe-for-work) event dedicated to rarepairs, both romantic and platonic, within the Haikyuu fandom. It's also dedicated to giving back to other members within our fandom by either making an art piece or fanfiction (and getting a gift in return) and also gives you all a chance to dive into different veiws and ideas for our favourite rarepairs or maybe learning about/making up some new ones that you may have not considered before!

Pretty much any ship goes here (as long as it's legal) and we aim for this to be a safe space to show off our creativity and skills and showcasing our wonderful rarepairs!

We hope to see you there!

Guidelines

1-This event is strictly sfw and rated G or T only. This is because, A, we have a mod who is still a minor. B is so we can be more inclusive to people who are unable to/don't want to see/read nsfw works. This includes Lemon/Lime works or graphic gore. Swearing, minor non-graphic gore, sfw angst and fluff is still ok, but there will be options to avoid that if you personally wish.

2-As this is a rarepair exchange, we ask that you choose ships that are less commonly seen or talked about. Obviously, some people may have different views on what classifies as rarepairs and what doesn't, so we ask that you go by your best judgement.

3-All ships that are worked with are to be legal. This means that you are not to work with family members and minors x adults (unless they are within a 2/3 year age range from each other ie. 16 year old x 18 year old). Anything that breaks that will not be tolerated.

4-This is a safe space for all ships (that are legal) and there is to be no harassment or bullying under no circumstances. That means, if you don't like a ship someone else likes, that's fine, but you cannot under any circumstances have a go at them for it.

5-There is to be no racism/sexism/homophobia ect. at all. Within this event, we wish that everyone respects everyone.

6-Writing pieces are to be at least 3,000 words minimum.
-Art pieces are to have line art and colour at minimum.

7-This event will allow AUs, post-timeskip, pre-timeskip, crossovers (As long as It's mainly still Haikyuu).

8-In the Application forms, there will be sections where you can input any themes/ships/ideas ect. that you are aren't comfortable with receiving or creating so that everyone is comfortable.

9-When the Discord Server is created, we ask that you follow the rules over on there to ensure we keep the server as a safe space!

faq

What is an Exchange?
An exchange is an event that is similar to the idea of a Secret Santa. All the paticipants will fill in a form regarding what they would like to receive and what they would like to work on. From there, they will be given a person to work for, making them a secret gift from the ideas they mentioned in their form and you are given to someone else.
For example, Person A makes a peice for Person B. B works for C. C for D ect.
From there, when posting time comes around, you get to post your gift and you get to see the one given to you.

What do we count as a rarepair?
A rarepair is a ship that isn't talked about as much and isn't one of the more popular ones. We don't have a list of what ships we will count as rare or popular (as there are far too many), so we just ask that you use your best judgement. One way of figuring it out is if the ship has less than 300 fics in their OTP:true tag. If you wanted to check what we think, you're welcome to contact us on Curious Cat, Twitter or via email and we can give you our opinions!

What's a pinch hitter?
A pinch hitter is someone we call on to take a vacant spot if someone has to leave the event. We understand that sometimes we have to leave events and when someone does, we can call on a pinch hitter to make a piece in their place.

How will groups be selected?
The mods will go through everyone's forms and do our best to match everyone up with their preferences. Due to numbers, you might not get the exact ships you wanted to work on, but we will do our best to make sure everyone is satisfied with their partners. Of course, if there is issues you can contact us and we can see what we can do.
